Hi everyone, my name is Victor De Leon ( I go by Vic ) and I created, run and write for Vic’s Movie Den.
I currently live in Rochester, New York and I try my best to be a big supporter of Indie Film here (and in general, just about everywhere) in Upstate and Western New York. I am originally from New York City (Specifically The Bronx). I am married to my soul mate, Victoria and we have 3 awesome kids.
Obviously, I love watching Movies but I also love writing about them and discussing them as well as, Literature, History, Photography, Tech, Comics, etc. So, yeah, I guess I am kind of a Geek. Or a complete nerd. Just take your pick. I’m not much of a hyper-critical movie reviewer. My writing is purely a fun hobby and positive outlet, so, when it stops being fun I probably would not continue to write.
I absolutely adore and respect films that challenge the status quo, are unique, original and provoke emotions and stimulate our intellects. Much un-like the usual formulaic fodder that comes out of Hollywood these days. But, even Hollywood can occasionally surprise and get it right.
But, as I have grown older, I have become less jaded and a lot more mellow. So, as a result, some movies that many critics would turn their nose up at, I may actually like or consider a guilty pleasure. I am not in the least a “Film Snob.” (Though I do know my share of some) I do enjoy high concept art films, occasionally and even various foreign films (mostly Italian, Japanese and even Spanish) but I also find great joy in a western, slapstick, cult or even some corny and cheesy B movies. I do not immediately seek out every art house film by Wes Anderson or some other directors of his ilk just to say that I watched the “latest” hip indie art house movie. I guess, I am hard to peg down when it comes to some titles. But that is why I started this blog. To discuss, inform and debate!
I am also an aspiring writer and photographer. I attended the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in the late 80’s (Too briefly unfortunately). I do hope to continue my passion for film and photography in various ways while writing a short film to shop around here in Rochester. Like I said, I love writing reviews (It is very cathartic and therapeutic for me) and essays about Movies and other Film related subjects. It is a very cool hobby to have and I have fun doing it.
I also volunteer my time, frequently to The Little Theatre and The George Eastman House here in the glorious city of Rochester, New York! I used to contribute Sci Fi Movie reviews over at Horror News Net as well. Here is my Archived Review Page HERE
I enjoy and try to provoke intelligent and stimulating conversations about all things Film, TV, Tech, Literature and Media. I hope with my blog you can all find something that you like and can gravitate too. I love all and any feedback and I always respond to my readers and followers! Yeah, that means YOU!
I can be reached at vicsmovieden1@yahoo.com for any questions, concerns, complaints or info! I hope you enjoy my humble little page!
In order to let you all know more about me, I have posted a few of my favorite things in the Gallery below!

I love John Carpenter inspired art work

Godzilla, Kaiju and Toho all rock my Universe.

I look forward to having many more conversations with you Victor, great site 🙂
As am I. Glad you like it. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
A great man with a big heart.
You don’t become a writer, you are a writer.
Victor is just that, someone with a passion for cinema and who knows pop culture as a whole too. Look out for his comic reviews or his picture trails on big movies and productions. Take a gander at his extensive library of classic movie reviews and dont take the man for granted.
He’s as good as they come.
Thank you so very much my friend. You are too kind. I am glad, honored and fortunate to have you as an amigo and hermano. 😀
Just nominated you for an award. http://cinematicfrontier.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/dragons-loyalty-award/
Oh wow! Thanks so much! That was very nice of you. I appreciate it very much. I don’t think I’ve ever been nominated for an award ever. I’m honored and very excited to be part of a great group of fellow bloggers (I sound like some Oscar nominee don’t I?) that have been considered. This is very cool!
Just nominated you for another award! http://cinematicfrontier.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/versatile-blogger-award/
Hey man! Great site – nice to meet another guy who loves Carpenter even more than I do! Looking forward to reading more of your work!
Hi Jim! Thanks for stopping by, man! I appreciate it. I am a long time fan of JC for sure. I own all of his films and scores. I even dig the movies that many others would find questionable because I respect him so much. I look forward to your posts as well. Please stop by when you can and stay in touch. Thanks!
This page has confirmed my suspicion that you have great taste in movies.
I appreciate it that! Thank you. You made my day! I hope that there is always something here that you can check out and enjoy. Any feedback, suggestions or comments are always welcome! 🙂
Awesome blog man, keep up the great posts.
Thanks! I ‘m glad you like it. Thanks for the follow as well. I really appreciate it. I have some fun stuff coming up so stay tuned for that. Have a great weekend!
Will do, have you checked out my blog?
I just linked on. Checking it out now! Looks good. Reading your TTSP review right now. Reading your RE: Apocalypse right after. Good job!
You had me at “Superman: The Movie is my favorite Super Hero Film” High five Victor! That’s still the one to beat I think, let’s hope one day DC could deliver one that’d at least match it.
High five right back at ya, Ruth! I think that Donner’s movie is hands down the only super hero film that has made a lasting and incredibly strong impression on me. I still get goose bumps every time I watch it.
I remember when I first saw it, my mother took me for my birthday and since it was the last showing and we got out so late she let me stay home from school the next day! Yet another reason why I love that movie so much.
Thank you for stopping in, Ruth! I appreciate it very much.
Whoop! Just to say, I’ve finally gotten around to responding to one of those ‘Awards’ type things… and big props to you, for I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award.

Hi Gene! Glad you like my page, buddy. Thanks for the follow back, too. I appreciate it!
I’m looking forward to visiting your page often. (I’ll leave behind my Yankees hat when I do) 🙂 Stay in touch!

I thought I was already subscribed to you. Only just realized I wasn’t. My sincere apologizes and I looked forward to reading your stuff, although I admit it may take a while because I’m behind on blogging, my reader posts, and Youtube, not to mention college schoolwork.
You sound pretty busy of late! No need to apologize. 🙂 I totally understand. I’ve been there.
I appreciate the follow very much and I hope to see you around more frequently in the future! 😉
We have a lot in common. Lots of my favorites too!
Greetings, Victor! I’ve just nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award, because I genuinely enjoy reading your posts.
I totally understand that these awards are not for everyone (and you may already have it), but should you choose to accept it, here’s the link to your nomination:

Hi Victor, thanks for the follow! You have a very substantial site, I’m liking the wallpaper!
My pleasure, Jack. Nice to meet you. Glad you like the site (and wallpaper). Things will be picking up some on the blog.
I was on hiatus (I just moved into a new home) and wasn’t able to commit to much new content. Things have settled down and now I can get back on track
I hope you come back often and I like your site as well. I will be sure to stop in and check out your stuff!
Sincerely,
Vic De Leon
Ah I too have recently moved into a new place, a place that’s still without Internet!
Thanks Vic, likewise!
Good luck with your writing.

So sorry for overlooking this great little page here for so long Vic! Finally found it! So much good stuff here. Thanks as always for being a faithful follower of my blog as well. Very much appreciate your input and following.
My pleasure, Tom! Glad you fond the page 🙂 Better late than never, no? You have a wonderful movie page and I always enjoy stopping by and catching up with all of your content (I try to set aside a day or two to see what everyone is up to).
I am honored to be part of your DSB blogroll and I, of course, appreciate YOUR input and following, Tom. I have a very humble little blog here and I may sometimes not have very timely or auspicious content but I still, nonetheless, greatly appreciate the time you take to visit, like and give feedback. It mean a lot to me, man.
It’s great to have a blog to introduce people to all kinds of different things we might not have ever seen or heard about otherwise. Love it.
So true, Tom! I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve come across such great content just exploring and checking out so many great blogs that have turned me on to things (be it a book, a movie or even a comic book) that I pretty much knew nothing about. Glad you feel the same, man 🙂
