My Busy Summer or “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Buy a House”

summer-wallpapers-2010-1024x640

Hey, everyone! Vic here to announce that I will be taking a bit of a break from posting new reviews for the rest of the summer and quite possibly most of the fall. My family’s summer has been very busy with various outdoor activities like picnics, trips, cook-outs and visits to beaches along Lake Ontario.

As many who live here, in Rochester or Western New York already know, the summers are short and if you don’t take advantage of the great weather, you’ll blink and it will already be October. Like we say here: “Rochester has 2 Seasons. Winter and Construction.”

The other, even more exciting reason, would be that my wife and I are house hunting, and what all of you home owners already know, is that it is a grueling, tiring, exhaustive process but with the greatest reward in the end. After we decide on a home, the move and settling in will be taking up most of my time.

So, in the meantime, I will be doing some other types of posts to fill in a bit. I may re-edit some older reviews, do some Top 5 or 10 lists, whip up some On The Set or Behind the Scenes posts or have some of my great contributors help out during my hiatus.

Sold-For-Sale

My sincerest thanks to everyone who drops by on a regular basis to like my posts, leave comments and feedback as well as sharing and re-tweeting on social media. I cannot stress enough how grateful and appreciative I am for the support and interaction. You are all the best followers, readers, and blogger brothers and sisters that a normal everyday shmoe like me and my small modest blog could ever have. I will keep you all posted and updated on any new movie reviews that are on the way.

Once things settle down, I will have drafts ready to post for some of the following movies:

Rob the Mob

Jodorowsky’s Dune

Snowpiercer

In Fear

Dom Hemingway

Life Itself

Sparks

Bad Words

They Came Together

Doc of the Dead

Wolf Creek 2

Moby Dick

Cuban Fury

Joy Ride

Cold Prey II

Anna

In The Blood

Joe

The Rocket

Vinyl

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and more!

    • Haven’t read the GN yet but I have seen some panels. I may get it from my library to check out. The film is quite good but I know some do prefer the GN overall to the movie.

Thanks for checking in, Maurice. I’ve appreciated all of your support and feedback, man! 🙂

  1. As a fellow Northern New Yorker, I understand this sentiment very week. I’ve been a lot more lax with my posting as well for the very same reason. 😉 Best of luck in your house hunting, hope you find a really great place!

    • Thanks Billy! I really appreciate it. So far, house hunting has been quite fun but anxious to finally get all of the red tape over with so I can look forward to the actual move.

      I’ll stay in touch, man!

    • Thanks! The weather so far, after that last bad rain storm we had, is pretty good. Much less humidity and the beaches have been so much fun.

I appreciate you checking in. Thanks very much for all of your support and feedback 😉

    • Thanks John! I hope to get things wrapped up as soon as possible but we still have a ways to go and we have a bunch of activities on top of that, that are still to come.

Thanks for all of your support on my page, John. It is very appreciated and I’ll stay in touch!

    • Snowpiercer it is! I’ll make that my first review when I get back. Thanks for the well wishes and for always checking in. I appreciate it!

    • I will, Tim! I will keep you posted, man and thanks for the well wishes and for always stopping in. You rock!

  2. sounds exciting Vic! good luck with the house hunting and enjoy the great summer weather, just make sure to send me your review for the Hitchcock blogathan before you sign off 🙂

cant wait to see what you have done!

    • Will do, Rob! I have started a draft and I will try to bang out the rest later next week. I’ll do my best and keep you posted.

Thanks for the well wishes, Rob and for all of your support on my page. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, man! 🙂

    • Even though some things won’t grind to a total halt on the blog, I just need some time off to recharge and get other things taken care of (like the house search).

One other being that I enjoy my summer with the family. Sometimes, it felt as if it were actual work getting content up on the page instead of it being a casual and fun hobby to enjoy and share with others.

Often, I would find myself rushing or urging myself to watch movies that were current or new just to have new content. It felt really strange. So I had to stop and take a step back. So what if everyone else gets all of the new flicks reviewed and dissected. I have a long list of films to get to but I’ve learned that they can wait.

I’m learning that I don’t have to always keep up with the Joneses, you know?

I have always appreciated your support on my blog and of course, on Twitter, where you have been a great friend. I will get into the swing of things very soon! Thanks for the well wishes, Barry. I truly appreciate it 🙂

    • Thanks, Bill. Always great to hear from you brother! I will definitely stay in touch and keep you posted. Getting ever closer to getting that new DSLR, too 🙂

Thanks for the kind words, my man. I really appreciate your support and friendship!

    • Absolutely! 😀 I love doing all of this way too much to never return, haha.

Funny thing, too. Last night before logging off my laptop, I thought: Man, I need to check in on Keith’s page. I haven’t dropped by in a while! I usually try to catch up with everyone at least once a week but I’ve been so darn busy.

I will definitely stay in touch, Keith. It was great hearing from you. Enjoy the rest of your week, bro! Thanks for checking in 🙂

      • Thanks, Keith! So far the experience has been quite positive but sometimes really exhaustive.

What keeps me going is having faith and keeping my eye on the prize for the long run. My family is very excited, too. So it’s all good.

So far, the stress levels are pretty low (for now, lol). 🙂

Sound off in The Den!
