I LOVE Psycho, so I’ve really been anticipating this. Highmore looks surprisingly fitting as Norman. I hope he gets more challenging roles after this. I’ve enjoyed him in The Spiderwick Chronicles and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
I like Highmore too. He was one of the few things that made Charlie and the Chocolate Factory bearable for me. I would never thought to cast him as a sinister and iconic character like Norman Bates. I love that he’s in this role, because he seems destined for more than the usually mediocre family-aimed films he has done (with the exception of the apparently great Finding Neverland, and I enjoyed Spiderwick). I think this is exactly the TV show he needs, to launch him into the best roles of his career.
One of the reasons I liked his performance(s) so much is because he took the challenge of portraying both twins. It’s impressive to me because he plays one character that is so timid, geeky and inventive (Simon); and one so curious and rebellious (Jared). Hopefully you like it, when you get the chance to watch it. Hmm. I want to watch it again sometime this month now lol… I enjoy the fantasy of it.
