Now onto my “Thor” review. Well, what can I say? It was as good as I thought it was going to be which wasn’t great. It wasn’t bad or great, it was just alright.
I am not very knowledgeable of the Thor universe. I’m a Spider-Man type of guy. I think with this type of comic book character, it is very difficult to convey in a film. The idea of an alternate universe alone is, in my opinion, is difficult to convey to an audience. I haven’t seen it yet but I think the same can be said for “Green Lantern.” I know film, in general, is an escape from reality but a majority of the time films articulate realism to some degree.
Anyway, Kenneth Branagh represented Thor’s character appropriately; hardheaded and selfish. His journey to selflessness was pretty predictable. Natalie Portman wasn’t very good. I know this is no “Black Swan” but she could’ve put forth a little more effort.
If you have some spare change and want something to pass a rainy day, “Thor” would be a good film to watch. Let’s see how he’ll do in “The Avengers.”
